If one proposal says CertainTeed and another says Landmark PRO, the first question is what each contractor is actually proposing. A manufacturer name, a product name and a warranty name do different jobs. Put them on separate lines before deciding that two offers are alike, or that the longer name is the better choice.

READ THIS AS A DOCUMENT GUIDE

This is an editorial guide to proposal documents, not a report from an installation or a recommendation for your particular roof. Macomb Roofing Pros does not claim a CertainTeed affiliation, endorsement or manufacturer certification here. The product pages below identify published names; they do not establish which products a contractor offers or has available locally.

01 /Start with the whole Landmark name

CertainTeed publishes separate US pages for Landmark, Landmark PRO and Landmark ClimateFlex. Keep the complete name from the proposal beside the matching page. A shared family name is a starting point for looking up information, not permission to carry a statement from one product into another.

NAME ON THE PROPOSALWHAT TO MATCH
LandmarkThe page and product documents headed Landmark. Keep any extra name or designation from the actual proposal.
Landmark PROThe PRO product information, plus the exact color and documents the bidder is using.
Landmark ClimateFlexThe ClimateFlex product information. Do not shorten the name to Landmark in the comparison notes.

This is a name-matching table, not a quality ranking or a list of products stocked in Macomb County. If the proposal uses another Landmark name, ask for that exact product page. If it says only CertainTeed architectural shingles, the missing product name is still a question; the category does not fill it in.

02 /Keep the proposal, sample and document together

Give each proposal its own small file. Save the written product name, the proposed color, the supplier or contractor contact and the documents supplied with the offer. Record the date you received them. That lets you return to the information that was actually used in the discussion, rather than a similar brochure found later.

For a sample, ask which complete product name and color it represents. Keep its label with the proposal. A photo of an attractive roof can help explain the look you want, but it does not identify the product that a bidder intends to supply. An online visualizer is another way to discuss appearance; it is not a stock confirmation or a substitute for naming the proposed material.

When a document disagrees with the offer, keep the disagreement visible. Ask the bidder to identify the applicable document and explain the difference in writing. Do not choose whichever description sounds stronger or blend two documents into a new description of the product.

03 /Turn performance language into a specific question

If wind or impact performance is part of the sales discussion, ask where that statement appears for the complete proposed product. Record the document title and the qualification beside the statement. A figure copied from a different Landmark page does not answer the question about this offer.

This guide does not reproduce wind speeds, impact classes, installation temperatures or nailing instructions. Those are product-specific technical details to check in the applicable current literature with the person assessing the roof. It also does not infer a damage guarantee, a suitable installation method or an insurance benefit from a product label.

Keep a product question separate from a roof question. What does the manufacturer publish for this shingle is one question. What does this property need, and how will the proposed work address it, is another. Request an explanation of both rather than treating the product name as the completed assessment.

04 /Ask for the actual warranty document

A warranty heading in a brochure is a reason to obtain the document, not a complete explanation of the offer. CertainTeed maintains a warranty-information directory with residential-roofing support. Use the roofing section for a shingle question; instructions shown for another building product are not automatically shingle instructions.

  • Which exact warranty document and edition are being offered for this job?
  • Who issues that promise, and what product and work does it identify?
  • What installation, accessory or contractor requirements does that particular offer state?
  • Who handles any required registration, when, and what confirmation will the homeowner receive?
  • Which questions about ownership, transfer or a possible claim need the issuer to answer?

Keep a separate copy of any contractor workmanship promise. Do not assume the shingle document and the contractor document cover the same work or have the same conditions. This page does not decide whether a proposed warranty applies, whether registration is required for a particular offer or how a future claim would be resolved.

05 /Confirm what can actually be supplied

Before choosing a color from a web page, ask the bidder to confirm the complete product and color they can supply for the proposed work. Keep any still-open choice marked open. This site has not verified current local stock, a delivery date or a substitute product for your project.

If the proposed product changes, ask for the new full name and corresponding documents before comparing the revised offer. Keep the earlier and revised proposals so the difference is clear. A substitution is a new comparison question, even when both products carry the CertainTeed name.

The same distinction helps when looking at quantities. Product identification does not establish the measured roof area or package coverage being used. The shingle quantity calculator checks declared area and coverage inputs; it does not choose a shingle, inspect the roof or settle the complete material order.

06 /Bring a short list to the next conversation

A useful first message names the project location, the complete product from the proposal, the color if selected and the main unresolved question. Attach or keep the relevant documents available through the contact method agreed with the contractor. You do not need to decide an installation detail yourself to ask for clarification.

If you are still sorting a quote, the estimate-reading guide identifies its wider line items. When several bids name different manufacturers, the three-brand comparison explains how to line up the proposed products. The quote comparison worksheet takes the next step across the rest of the scope.

NO OBLIGATIONKEY TAKEAWAYS
  • Keep the complete proposed product name beside its matching manufacturer information.
  • Record an unresolved specification, warranty or supply question instead of filling it with an assumption.
  • Keep the contractor promise separate from the manufacturer document.
  • Compare a revised product with its own documents before treating it as the same offer.
FAQ / QUESTIONS

Questions we hear most

CertainTeed publishes separate US product pages under those names. Keep the complete name from your proposal and match its own documents; do not carry a statement from one page into another product offer.

No. It does not verify a contractor product list, manufacturer certification, local stock or delivery date. Ask the bidder to confirm the complete product and color proposed for your job.

No. Obtain the exact warranty document offered for the job and ask the issuer or proposing contractor to explain the applicable requirements and open questions. This guide does not decide coverage or a future claim.

Start with the project location, the complete product name, the proposed color if selected and the question you need answered. Keep the proposal and matching documents available; technical design decisions belong in the property assessment.
